Off  the square in the picturesque town of Kosciusko, Mississippi, the landscaped "Redbud Springs" park is home to the life-size bronze sculpture of the town’s namesake, General Tadeusz Kosciuszko.

The bronze sculpture stands atop a limestone plinth with a bronze plaque which reads:

"Tadeusz Kosciuszko, Polish nationalist 1746-1817"

Inspired by America’s Declaration of Independence, he fought voluntarily in our Revolutionary War.    He engineered and built forts and strongholds for the USA including West Point Military Academy  in New York. After the victorious Revolutionary War, he returned to his native Poland and fought  for independence from Imperialist Russia, a dream never realized during his lifetime.
